     Networking setup for Windows 98/ME

Now that you have your computer you have to be sure that you are setup correctly for networking. If your settings do not match these you will have to change them when you arrive. Usually if you have a cable modem service you should be setup fine. If you are having trouble one of our techs will be able to help you. So lets start with getting your computer ready for the Solgames network. Open your network properties and ensure that your setup contains the following items.

Network Properties

One Client for Microsoft networks
One network adapters
One TCP/IP
One File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks.

Select TCP/IP and click properties. Configure TCP/IP in the following way

IP Address: Obtain IP Address Automatically
Gateway: blank or 192.168.0.1 (usually just leave blank)
Bindings: Check for MS Networks and File/Print Sharing
Click OK and reboot your computer. Now you can configure Internet Explorer to view the internet.

Configuring Internet Explorer (5.x) or higher

First close all copies of Internet Explorer. Next, right click on the Internet Explorer icon on your desktop and click properties. Select the connections tab. If you can see, select 'never dial a connection'. Next, click the LAN settings tab and make sure Automatically detect settings is the only check box that has a check in it. The Solgames configuration does not require a proxy server. Now click ok and you are ready to surf the net as well as play games at any Solgames LAN event.
